Iran, Azerbaijan Discuss Karabakh


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan talked about a range of issues at a meeting in New York, including the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Azeri counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov had a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Saturday.

The two senior diplomats discussed various issues of mutual interest in the meeting, including the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Hailing the course of enhancement of relations between Tehran and Baku in diverse fields, Amirabdollahian expressed hope that the Republic of Azerbaijan’s ambassador and diplomats in Tehran would return to their mission and a new chapter would open in the ties between the two neighbors.

For his part, Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the recent meetings between delegations of the two countries.

Hailing the constructive results of a recent meeting between top officials of Azerbaijan and Iran, he said Baku is prepared to take new constructive steps in improving ties with Tehran.

The two foreign ministers also weighed plans about a series of bilateral and multilateral initiatives for the promotion of cooperation.
