Wushu Athlete Salimi Wins Iran’s Second Gold in 2022 Asian Games


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Afshin Salimi of Iran won a gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games early Thursday.

Salimi first beat Vietnamese Truong van Chuong in the wushu men’s 65kg quarterfinals and then emerged victorious over Jeon Seong Jin of South Korea.

Salimi also defeated Indonesian practitioner Samuel Marbun in the final match.

A record high of nearly 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and territories compete across 40 sports in the 2022 Asian Games.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to Hangzhou in 34 sports events.
