Wushu Athlete Sabri Wins Iran’s Third Gold at 2022 Asian Games
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yousef Sabri of Iran won a gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games on Thursday.
Iran’s men’s volleyball team and wushu athlete Afshin Salimi had already won two gold medals in the Games.
Sabri first defeated Shokhzod Tashpolatov of Kazakhstan in Round of 16 and then defeated Uzbekistan’s Azizbek Isroilov and Nasratullah Habibi of Afghanistan in the following rounds, respectively.
Sabri defeated Macao’s Feilong Cai to win gold in the men’s 75kg.
A record high of nearly 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and territories compete across 40 sports in the 2022 Asian Games.
Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to Hangzhou in 34 sports events.
