Iran Keen to Broaden Economic Ties with Tanzania


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran expressed Tehran’s readiness to promote economic cooperation with Tanzania.

In a telephone conversations with his Tanzanian counterpart on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian congratulated the East African nation and government on the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Hailing the age-old relations between Iran and Tanzania and highlighting the capacities of the two states, Amirabdollahian voiced Tehran’s readiness to strengthen relations with Dodoma, particularly the economic cooperation and interaction in the scientific and technological fields.

For his part, Tanzanian Foreign Minister January Yusuf Makamba lauded Iran’s push for the expansion of bilateral relations.

He also extended an invitation to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Tanzania.

The two senior diplomats also talked about the results of a recent meeting between the Iranian and Tanzanian presidents on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in South Africa and agreed on plans to convene a session of the Joint Commission of the two countries in the near future.
