Climber Alipour Takes Iran’s Sixth Gold in 2022 Asian Games


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speed climber Reza Alipour won Iran’s sixth gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games on Tuesday.

He defeated Chinese climber Long Jinbao in the men’s speed final with a time of 5.302 seconds.

Long fell in the final and Alipour successfully defended his gold medal in Hangzhou.

Iran’s men’s volleyball team, kurash athlete Sadegh Azarang, wushu practitioners Afshin Salim and Yousef Sabri and discus thrower Hossein Rasouli had previously won five gold medals.

A record high of nearly 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and territories compete across 40 sports in the 2022 Asian Games.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
