Iran Considers Restoring Tourism Ties with Egypt: Minister


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Ezzatollah Zarghami revealed plans to explore the restoration of tourism ties with Egypt, emphasizing its potential to strengthen bilateral relations.

Speaking in an interview with Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Zarghami confirmed that the initial steps toward reestablishing tourism connections with Egypt have been initiated, awaiting a diplomatic decision from the foreign ministry.

He emphasized that expanding tourism relationships with foreign nations and simplifying travel to Iran stands as a top priority for the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. Furthermore, he noted that the ministry has proposed a visa waiver plan involving 68 countries to the government.

Zarghami also highlighted the recent commencement of visa-free travel for the first group of Russian tourists to Iran, describing it as a significant development that could pave the way for others.

Regarding the recent World Tourism Day celebration in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Zarghami mentioned that his deputy, Maryam Jalali, participated in the event. During the occasion, Jalali proposed the establishment of a working group aimed at abolishing visa requirements between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

In an effort to foster cooperation, Zarghami submitted a message to his Saudi counterpart, Sultan Al Musallam, via Jalali, inviting the high-ranking Saudi official to visit Iran, whereas plans for necessary coordination and arrangements were discussed and confirmed.
