China Slams Israel's Bombardment of Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi criticized Israel's military actions in Gaza, labeling them as "beyond the scope of self-defense" and urging the Israeli regime to "cease its collective punishment of" Palestinians in the besieged enclave.

Wang Yi conveyed his concerns during a conversation with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Saturday, as reported by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

He emphasized the importance of de-escalation and a return to the negotiation table for all involved parties, stating, "All parties should not take any action to escalate the situation and should return to the negotiating table as soon as possible."

Additionally, China's Middle East envoy, Zhai Jun, is set to visit the region next week with the goal of promoting a truce in the conflict and safeguarding civilian lives while alleviating the situation. China Central Television (CCTV) disclosed this information in a video posted on their official social media account.

Zhai Jun, who recently met with representatives from the Arab League in China, expressed deep concerns about the potential escalation of the conflict, fearing its expansion beyond its current boundaries.

Israel continues bombing Gaza, killing at least 2,329 Palestinians and injuring about 9,000.
