Iranian Investors to Launch Shipping Company in Astrakhan Port: Governor
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian investors plan to set up a shipping company in Astrakhan Port in Russia, the governor of Astrakhan region announced.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, Igor Babushkin added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) is investing huge funds in the development of PJSC Astrakhan Port, where the controlling block of shares belongs to the Iranian business."
For purposes of shipping development, Iranian founders made the decision to create Astraport Shipping Company, he stated, TASS reported.
The construction operation of the shipping company in Astrakhan Port is slated to be completed in March 2024, the governor added.
The Astrakhan Port awarded a contract to the Lotos Shipyard to complete the construction operation of a RSD 49 project bulk carrier to the amount over one billion rubles ($10.7 mln), he said.
