Iran Test-Fires New Air-Launched Cruise Missile in Drill
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The air-based version of the Iranian ‘Heidar’ cruise missile was fired from a helicopter of the Army Ground Force during a large-scale exercise on Saturday.
The Iranian Army installed the air-based version of the Heidar cruise missile on a Bell 214 helicopter of the Ground Force’s Airborne Division and test-fired it during the Eqtedar (Power) 1402 drill in Isfahan Province on Saturday.
The air-launched cruise missile accurately hit the target at a distance of 30 km.
The GPS-guided cruise missile has a length of 3.83 meters and weighs around 40 kilograms. Its warhead, with a weight of over 20 kg, can destroy various fixed and mobile targets.
Considering its great destructive power, the Heidar cruise missile is mainly used to detonate the armored units and concrete bunkers of the enemy.
The Army has announced that the ongoing war game conforms with the new combat structure of the Ground Force, which includes weapons and tactics that can hit targets in long ranges with precision strikes, are smart, and can be automated and integrated into networks.
