Brazil FM Hails Iran’s Role in Promoting Peace in Region, World


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Brazil lauded the major role that Iran’s plays in the region, thanking the Islamic Republic for contributing to peace and security in the world.

Mauro Vieira and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian held a telephone conversation on Saturday during which they exchanged views on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

Vieira appreciated Iran’s constructive efforts to help establish peace and security in the region and the world.

He also underlined the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, sending humanitarian aid to people in the besieged enclave and helping foreign nationals, including Brazilian citizens, to leave Gaza safely.

Amirabdollahian, for his part, hailed Brazil’s international efforts to stop the conflict in Gaza, including by putting forth a resolution at the UN Security Council that called for a ceasefire in the enclave.

The Iranian top diplomat also reiterated the need for a ceasefire and thanked Brazil for sending humanitarian aid to Gaza.

As Israel its airstrikes on Gaza, the death toll has climbed to over 9,200 people, with over 3,826 children and more than 2,405 women among the casualties. Additionally, at least 23,516 people have been injured.
