Iran Warns of Extra-Regional Fallout of Gaza Massacre

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The president of Iran called for concerted international action to stop the Israeli regime’s massacre of Palestinians, warning that the slaughter of people in Gaza will have extra-regional consequences.

In a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, President Ebrahim Raisi referred to the recent crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, saying any analysis of these events without paying attention to its roots would be unfair and unrealistic.

He said the killing of oppressed and innocent women and children, attacks on hospitals, schools, mosques, churches and residential areas are condemned and unacceptable from the point of view of any human being.

"Palestinian resistance groups have a legitimate right to confront the occupation of the usurping Zionist regime and all countries must support the Palestinian people's struggle for freedom from oppression,” he added, the president’s official website reported.

"How come the struggle of European countries against Nazi Germany is an admirable and heroic act, but the resistance of the Palestinian people against the child-killing and criminal Zionist regime is condemned?!" he asked.

Raisi described the United States as the main accomplice of the Zionists in these crimes due to its all-round financial, weapons and intelligence support of the Zionist regime, as well as its veto of Security Council resolutions to end the bombing of Gaza. "The mass killing of the people of Gaza is the most anti-human crime in the 21st century, which must be stopped immediately."

Referring to the killing of about 10,000 Palestinians living in Gaza, most of whom are women and children, the president considered it the duty of all independent countries with power and influence in the world to prevent this genocide and crime against humanity.

Raisi continued by recalling the history of the Indian nation's struggles against Western colonialism and the country's position as one of the founders of the Non-Aligned Movement in the world, stating, "Today, India is expected to use all its capacities to end the Zionist crimes against the oppressed people of Gaza."

Iran supports any global joint effort for an immediate ceasefire, lifting the blockade and providing aid to the oppressed people of Gaza, he added, noting, "The continuation of the killing of the Palestinian people has infuriated of all the free nations of the world and this killing will have extra-regional consequences."

For his part, Prime Minister Modi expressed concern about the dire situation of the residents of Gaza due to the attacks of the Zionist regime, and thanked the Iranian president for his supportive and enlightening positions in explaining the Palestinian developments correctly and condemned the killing of civilians by the Zionist regime.

"India insists on stopping these attacks and reopening the crossings to send humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza,” Modi stated.

Referring to the diplomatic efforts to end the bombings in Gaza and to prevent the spread of the crisis to other parts of the region, the Indian prime minister stated, "Today we all have a duty to do everything we can to stop the killing of women and children in Gaza and deliver aid to them, and we consider the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran very important and effective in this regard."
