Iran, Turkey Voice Support for Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey reaffirmed their countries’ support for Palestine, backing efforts to extend a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip following weeks of severe Israeli attacks.

In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan talked about the latest developments in Palestine in the wake of a four-day truce in Gaza.

Stressing the need for a complete halt to the Zionist regime’s atrocities against Gaza and the West Bank, Amirabdollahian said, “It is necessary for Iran, Turkey and other Muslim countries to take more forceful measures in support of the Palestinian nation.”

He also hailed the growing trend in cooperation between Tehran and Ankara in various fields, expressing hope that continued high-level diplomatic ties would expand and strengthen the relations between the two neighbors.

For his part, Fidan reaffirmed Turkey’s resolve to make efforts at the extension of the ceasefire in Gaza.

He also hailed the rich and diverse relations between Turkey and Iran, expressing confidence that constant consultations and reciprocal meetings will enhance the bilateral relations.

More than 14,800 Palestinians, including 6,150 children, have been killed in Gaza in the Israeli strikes since October 7.

After prolonged negotiations and a delay of at least 24 hours, a four-day truce between the Israeli regime and Hamas took effect on Friday morning, with captives held in Gaza released in exchange for Palestinian women and children detained in Israeli prisons.
