Tech CEO Dies in Tragic Fall at Company Event in India

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Indian tech CEO met a fatal end after plummeting 20 feet to the stage during a company event in India, as reported by multiple outlets.

Vistex CEO Sanjay Shah and the firm's President Vishwanath Raju Datla were being lowered onto a stage in an iron cage resembling a hot-air balloon gondola when a cable snapped, as shown in a video posted by The Times of India.

"The two men can be seen falling out of the cage and plunging about 20 feet to the stage," the video depicted.

The incident occurred at the Ramoji Film City studios in Hyderabad during an event celebrating Vistex Asia's silver jubilee.

Shah, 56, received medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries, according to reports, while Datla remained in critical condition until late Saturday, unnamed sources told The Times of India.

Vistex has filed a complaint with the police, alleging a lack of safety measures at the venue, leading to an ongoing investigation, as reported by the outlet.

The late CEO, who founded Vistex and served as its CEO for 25 years, was a key figure in the revenue-management-software industry. Vistex operates globally with 20 offices and over 2,000 staff, according to its website.

Colleagues and friends expressed their condolences on LinkedIn, remembering Shah as a "lovely human being" and an "inspiring leader." The company's response to the tragedy is awaited, as Vistex didn't immediately respond to requests for comment made outside normal working hours.
