Israeli Forces Detain Nine Palestinians in Overnight West Bank Raids
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces conducted overnight raids in the occupied West Bank, detaining at least nine Palestinians and engaging in clashes with locals resisting the incursions.
Israeli forces beat an activist during one of the incursions in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron Hills.
These raids were part of a broader Israeli military operation across the occupied West Bank, with villages, towns, and cities targeted. According to Palestine's state news agency, Wafa, Israeli forces surrounded the homes of two Palestinian brothers who were shot dead on Thursday after a gun attack that killed an Israeli settler and injured around a dozen others. The home of a third Palestinian injured in the same attack was also surrounded.
Israeli forces were accompanied by a military bulldozer during the operation in the villages of Beit Taamar and Zaatara, east of Bethlehem.
Wafa reported additional raids in various locations, including the Wadi al-Hariya and Tariq Bin Ziyad areas of Hebron (al-Khalil), Yatta town to the south, Nazla al-Sharqiya village, and the Shweika suburb north of Tulkarem city. In al-Tuwanah village in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron city, a foreign solidarity activist was assaulted and threatened with arrest.
Palestinian youths in Beit Furik town, east of Nablus, resisted an Israeli raid, leading to the use of live bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas. Several villages northeast of Jenin were also stormed, with homes searched.
In a separate incident, Wafa reported an attack on two Palestinians at a makeshift checkpoint south of Hebron, where armed settlers blocked their route, sprayed gas in their faces, assaulted them, and seized their vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an illegal settlement nearby.
