Tehran, Moscow Reach New Agreements on Developing Oil, Gas Fields


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Oil and energy officials from Iran and Russia reached agreements on signing new contracts after reviewing the process of implementing the existing contracts inked between the two countries on the development of oil and gas fields.

Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji held talks with Russia’s Minister of Energy Nikolay Grigoryevich Shulginovon the sidelines of the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) to discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest.

The establishment of a gas hub within the framework of the Shanghai Treaty in the Eurasian region, the development of oil and gas fields, following up and implementing the existing contracts signed between Tehran and Moscow as well as the removal of the challenges ahead were among the topics discussed between the two sides in the meeting.

They also talked about signing new contracts on the development of oil and gas fields.

The gas trade between Iran, Russia and the regional countries and the creation of the necessary infrastructures were among the other topics discussed between the two sides, IRNA reported. 

Earlier, the two countries had reached agreements on connecting the electricity grid between Iran and Russia.
