Iran Says Reserves Right to Respond to Israeli Strike on Damascus
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran condemned the Israeli attack on the consular section of the country’s embassy in Damascus, saying Tehran reserves the right to take retaliatory action and decide about the reaction and punishment.
In a statement on Monday night, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s attack on the consular building of Iran’s embassy in Damascus, slamming the brutal attack as a gross violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
The international community and the UN should condemn the act in the strongest possible terms and should take necessary measures against the aggressor, the spokesman said, adding that all the aspects of this abhorrent act are under investigation.
He said the Zionist regime will be held responsible for the consequences of the strike, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
The spokesman underscored that Iran reserves the right to take countermeasures against the attack and will make a decision as to how to punish the aggressor.
The Israeli regime’s warplanes launched a missile attack on the consular section of Iran’s embassy in Damascus on Monday evening, killing seven IRGC generals and military advisers.
