Iran, Russia Attend Military Pentathlon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Armed forces from Iran and Russia have taken part in a military pentathlon in the Iranian central city of Isfahan, a commander said.

The pentathlon, held in the Amir al-Mo'menin military academy of the IRGC Ground Force in Isfahan, began on May 17 and will run until May 27, the commander of the military university announced.

General Mahdi Sarvar said elite armed forces from Iran and Russia are taking part in the pentathlon.

Considering that Russia is among the world’s top three teams in the multisport military competitions, the joint camp has been set up in Isfahan to enable the Iranian military forces to take advantage of Russia’s experiences, he said.

The next joint military camp between the two countries is scheduled to be held in Russia, the general added.

He noted that the Iranian armed forces are warming up for an upcoming military pentathlon in Venezuela in the summer.
