Rasht-Caspian Railway to Be Inaugurated Today
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Rasht-Caspian Railway Project, which is part of the Qazvin-Rasht Railway and the last section of the rail corridor “sea to sea”, will be launched on Tuesday in a ceremony attended by Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash.
The Rasht-Caspian Railway Project is considered one of the most important rail projects in the country, aimed at completing the construction of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), the roads minister said.
This rail route will connect the northern province of Gilan to Bandar Anzali, he said, adding that the project is of paramount importance in terms of trade and commercial exchanges with regional countries and Europe, IRNA reported.
The 37-km railway has cost more than 30,000 billion Rls to construct.
This rail project is the last section of the ‘sea to sea’ rail corridor which connects the southern ports of the country to the northern ports in Gilan province via rail and can provide the possibility of exchanging mixed cargo for the region through Iran, the minister emphasized.
