Yemen Downs Another US MQ-9 Reaper Drone
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen's armed forces announced on Wednesday that they had shot down an MQ-9 Reaper drone belonging to the US military over the central province of Marib, as part of their ongoing pro-Palestine efforts amid Israel's genocidal war in Gaza.
The Yemeni armed forces stated that their air defense forces successfully intercepted the MQ-9 Reaper drone earlier in the day using a domestically produced surface-to-air missile.
A video capturing the drone's downing is expected to be released soon, according to the statement.
This incident marks the second time in recent days that Yemen has downed an MQ-9 Reaper, a sophisticated aircraft valued at approximately $30 million.
Yemen has now neutralized a total of six drones of this type since launching its military campaign in support of Palestine last year.
In November, Yemen began targeting ships with Israeli affiliations, expanding later to vessels linked to the US and UK, following their airstrikes against Yemen in response to its anti-Israel actions.
Yemeni authorities have vowed to continue maritime operations and drone and missile attacks on Israeli-held ports until the Israeli regime ceases its brutal assaults on Gaza.
A statement from Yemen's armed forces reiterated their commitment to enhancing defensive capabilities against "American-British aggression" and other hostile forces.
