Iranian Women Lose to Belarus in Friendly Football Match
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran fell to a 3-0 defeat against Belarus in an international women’s friendly played on Thursday.
This was the first of two matches between Iranian and Belarusian women. The second friendly is slated for Sunday.
Belarus took the lead in the 17th minute through Anastasiya Linnik but Iran held its own for the rest of the first half.
The European side moved up another gear in the second half with Melana Surovtseva scoring a quick-fire brace in the 71st and 77th minutes.
Iran’s women’s football has improved a lot in recent years.
Team Melli has previously played with Belarus in Tehran and Minsk.
