Iran Volleyball Parts Ways with Mauricio Motta Paes
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF) parted company with Brazilian coach Mauricio Motta Paes on Friday.
The 61-year-old coach, who had been named as head coach of Iran in late February, was sacked following poor results in the 2024 Volleyball Nations League (VNL).
Under his guidance, Team Melli suffered seven defeats in the VNL.
Peyman Akbari was named as interim coach until the end of the 2024 VNL.
Iran is scheduled to play Turkey on Saturday in Week 2 and play the US, the Netherlands, France and Germany in Week 3.
