Yazdani Grabs Gold at Budapest Ranking Series


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hassan Yazdani of Iran claimed a gold medal at the Budapest Ranking Series on Friday.

Yazdani has returned to competition after eight months of being out of action with a shoulder injury.

He beat his American opponent Trent Hidlay 12-2 in the final match of 86kg weight class.

Yazdani first defeated Puerto Rican wrestler Ethan Adrian Ramos 13-2 and then beat Japan’s Hayato Ishiguro 12-2 in the quarterfinals.

He advanced to final after beating Azamat Dauletbekov of Kazakhstan 10-0.

Seven weight classes in Freestyle were in action with top wrestlers in all the weight categories. The ranking, and ultimately the seeds for the Olympics will be determined after this Ranking Series.
