Iranian Official Hails Ireland’s Recognition of Palestinian State


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – During the fourth round of political consultations between Iran and Ireland, an Iranian diplomat appreciated Ireland’s move to recognize the Palestinian state.

In this round of talks, held in Dublin, Majid Nili, an aide to Iran’s foreign minister and West European Affairs Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, met and exchanged views with Hyland, Deputy Secretary General & Political Director at Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs over bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues.

Nili appreciated Ireland's move to recognize the state of Palestine, which is an important step toward realizing the historical rights of the brave and oppressed people of Palestine.

 Also, Nili and Hyland discussed and underlined the necessity of putting an immediate end to the war on Gaza and establishing an immediate and permanent ceasefire, delivering humanitarian aid to the region and securing the release of prisoners, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Nili also met with the Irish parliament speaker in which the two sides held talks over issues of mutual interest, especially ways of strengthening parliamentary cooperation.
