Tehran, Moscow Ink MoU on Gas Supply: Iran Oil Minister


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian oil minister revealed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Moscow on the supply of Russian gas to Iran.

The two countries enjoy high potential and capabilities in this sector, Javad Owji emphasized.

Russian energy giant Gazprom said on Wednesday that it signed a strategic memorandum on gas supplies to Iran, adding that the agreement was signed with the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) during the visit of a Russian delegation headed by Gazprom’s head Alexey Miller.

A strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with the NIGC on working out the organization of pipeline supplies of Russian natural gas to Iran, it said. 

During the visit, Miller met Owji, and the two officials discussed priority steps for the implementation of the memorandum and other areas of cooperation in the energy sector.
