Iran Expected to Take Automatic Spot at 2026 World Cup: AFC
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's national football team will be expected to take one of the two automatic spots from Group A of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Team Melli has been drawn along with Qatar, Uzbekistan, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, and DPR Korea.
Given Iran's status as perennial FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Team Melli will be expected to take one of the two automatic spots from the group to the Finals.
It may, however, not be easy as Qatar, Uzbekistan and the UAE all enjoyed unbeaten second round campaigns while debutant Kyrgyzstan and DPR Korea - who has twice been to the FIFA World Cup - will be determined to stamp their mark, the-afc.com reported.
