Over 16,000 Children Killed by Israel in Gaza Since October: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that the Israeli regime has killed at least 16,000 children in the besieged territory since October, contributing to an overall death toll exceeding 39,000 people.

The media office released a statement on Tuesday, detailing that nearly 90,000 Palestinians have been wounded in the Israeli war, with the majority being children and women.

Around 10,000 individuals remain missing, the office added.

The report also noted that 34 children have died due to malnutrition, while 17,000 children are living without one or both parents.

These figures emerge as a prominent general medical journal has estimated that the death toll from Israel’s military campaign could be as high as 186,000, accounting for 7.9 percent of Gaza's population.

In a report published earlier this month, the Lancet indicated that this figure includes both direct and indirect deaths from the Israeli attacks and those still buried under the rubble in Gaza.

The journal mentioned it had used a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per direct death reported by the Gaza Health Ministry.

Since October 2023, the Israeli regime has launched the campaign of death, destruction and genocide in Gaza.

The regime has imposed a near-total siege on the coastal territory, severely restricting the flow of food, medicine, electricity, and water into Gaza.
