Oman Condemns Assassination of Haniyeh

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Oman condemned the Israeli assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, paying tribute to him for standing against occupation and aggression.

In a telephone conversation with the caretaker foreign minister of Iran on Thursday, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi condemned the assassination of the head of Hamas’s political bureau and the Israeli regime’s violation of Iran’s territorial integrity.

“Ismail Haniyeh stood at the forefront of the resistance axis against aggression and occupation in the region and made significant efforts to stop the Zionist genocide in Gaza,” he stated.

“The Zionist regime must end its occupation, and the perpetrators of this crime must be punished,” the Omani minister added.

He also expressed support for the proposal to hold a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, hoping that the meeting would be held as soon as possible.

For his part, Caretaker Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Baqeri said, “The Zionist regime, by crossing all red lines and committing a blatant terrorist act in assassinating Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, and violating the territorial integrity and national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has seriously endangered regional stability and security. Therefore, Iran will exercise its inherent and legitimate right to take reciprocal action and impose severe punishment on the Zionist regime.”

“In this context, Iran has called for an emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to address this clear terrorist crime and the violation of the territorial integrity and national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he added, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
