Pakistan Decries Israeli Breach of Iran’s Sovereignty in Haniyeh Assassination

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Pakistan denounced the Zionist regime’s assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran as a blatant violation of Iran’s national sovereignty and the international law.

In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Caretaker Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Baqeri and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar discussed the consequences of the Israeli crime of assassinating Haniyeh in Tehran.

Baqeri hailed Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

He noted that the assassination of the Hamas chief in Tehran will result in Iran’s decisive response to the crime and highlighted the ramifications of Israel’s heinous acts, which led to the disruption of stability and security in the region.

The Iranian diplomat also urged regional and Muslim countries not to remain silent.

He proposed that Islamic countries hold an emergency meeting and called on Pakistan to support this initiative and do all it can to prevent the continuation of the Zionist regime’s crimes.

He also called for closer cooperation among the regional and Muslim countries to assist the people of Gaza and counter the atrocities of the Zionist regime across the region.

For his part, the Pakistani minister expressed deep regret and offered condolences over Ismail Haniyeh’s martyrdom and welcomed plans for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

He also called on the Muslim nations to be vigilant in the face of the Zionist regime’s crimes.

Ishaq Dar also condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh as a gross violation of international law and Iran’s sovereignty.

Haniyeh was assassinated in a special residence in northern Tehran after being hit by an aerial projectile in the early hours of July 31.

The Hamas chief was in Tehran to attend the new Iranian president’s swearing-in ceremony.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has warned the Israeli regime of a "harsh response" for Haniyeh's assassination, calling it the Islamic Republic's duty to avenge the Palestinian resistance leader's blood.
