Iran Exports over $724 Million of Non-Oil Products to Afghanistan in 4 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than $724 million of products were exported from Iran to Afghanistan in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2024).

Iran's commercial attaché to Afghanistan put Iran’s share in Afghanistan’s import market at 25%, adding that Afghanistan supplies more than 80% of its needs through imports, and 25 percent of the products imported by the country is supplied by Iran.

Speaking in a meeting of the ‘opportunities and challenges of Afghanistan market’, Hossein Roustaei highlighted Afghanistan’s import priorities including food, agriculture, fuel, basic goods such as flour, oil, eggs, day-old chicks, medicine, medical equipment and construction materials.

He said Iran exported over $724 million of non-oil goods to Afghanistan from March 21 to July 22, 2024, showing a 28 percent growth compared to the same period last year.

He went on to say that the trade ties between Iran and Afghanistan are on the trajectory of growth, Mehr news agency reported.

Investing in such commodities as detergents, food, construction materials including cement, tiles and faucets, medicine and medical equipment, plastic, all kinds of plastic containers, fuels, and carpets can provide an advantage for Iran to export products to Afghanistan, the commercial envoy to Afghanistan added.
