Israeli Airstrikes Injure Four Soldiers in Central Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli aircraft launched strikes on several military installations and buildings in central Syria on Thursday evening, resulting in the injury of at least four Syrian soldiers.

Syria’s official news agency SANA, citing a military source, reported that the aerial assault occurred at approximately 8:55 p.m. local time (1755 GMT). The report noted that the attack originated from the direction of northern Lebanon, causing material damage in addition to the injuries sustained by the soldiers. However, the specific location targeted by the airstrikes was not disclosed.

Earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a Britain-based war monitor, reported that seven people were wounded after Israeli airstrikes targeted a missile depot near Shayrat Airbase in Syria’s central province of Homs. The SOHR added that successive explosions were heard at the site for nearly an hour, with fires visible in the area.

This latest Israeli airstrike against Syria occurred as Israel continues its military operations in the Gaza Strip. Since October 7, Israel has been conducting air and ground attacks in the territory following a surprise assault by Palestinian resistance movements. The ongoing Israeli genocidal war has resulted in significant casualties, with at least 39,699 Palestinians, mostly women and children, killed and 91,722 injured.

Israel has frequently targeted military positions within Syria, particularly those associated with the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, which has supported the Syrian army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists. The Israeli government rarely comments on these attacks, which are often seen as a response to the Syrian government's successes in combating terrorism. Since the outbreak of the conflict in Syria, Israel has been supporting terrorist groups opposing President Bashar al-Assad's government.
