Iran Criticizes Islamic Nations' Silence on Israeli War in Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani expressed dismay over the inaction of Islamic countries in defending Palestine, particularly in light of the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza that continues to result in widespread casualties.
"If Islamic countries and Muslim nations had supported the oppressed people of Palestine and the defenseless residents of Gaza based on their Islamic, humanitarian, and legal duties, the Palestinian citizens, including children and women, would not have been slaughtered by the murderous tribe," Kanaani wrote in Persian on his official social media account on Friday.
Kanaani's remarks follow the recent exclusion of the Israeli ambassador to Japan from the annual atomic bombing ceremony in Nagasaki. Japan made the move in support of Palestinians in Gaza. This decision led to a boycott of the event by the ambassadors of the United States, the Group of Seven (G-7), and several Western countries.
The US dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, destroying the entire city and causing 140,000 deaths. A second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki three days later, killing an additional 70,000 people.
Israel’s genocidal military campaign in Gaza, ongoing for over ten months, has devastated large parts of the territory. The Israeli forces have particularly targeted educational institutions and healthcare facilities, resulting in nearly 40,000 deaths, the majority of whom are women and children. Thousands more remain missing or are presumed dead beneath the rubble.
