IRGC Commander Honors Martyrdom of Military Adviser in Syria


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps issued a message of condolence following the martyrdom of Colonel Ahmadreza Afshari, an IRGC aerospace officer who was killed due to injuries sustained during an airstrike in Syria.

In his message, Major General Hossein Salami stated, “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah; of them, some have fulfilled their obligations, and some of them are still waiting. (Surah Al-Ahzab - 23) Once again, the cypress tree of Islamic Revolution has been nourished with the blood of one its defenders of the shrine.

“Colonel Ahmadreza Afshari, a distinguished officer and advisor in the IRGC Aerospace Force, was martyred in Syria due to injuries sustained during an aerial bombing.

“Afshari, who served as a military advisor in Syria, was severely wounded in early August during an aggressor coalition airstrike in the war-torn country.

He was transported to Iran for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.”

Major General Salami added, "I extend my congratulations and condolences on the martyrdom of this honorable soldier.

"I ask the Almighty God to elevate this dear martyr to the highest ranks and grant him companionship with the martyrs of Karbala."

Salami also expressed his condolences to Afshari's family, relatives, and fellow comrades, praying for their health, resilience, and steadfastness in continuing the path of martyrdom, sacrifice, and the defense of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
