US Major Sponsor of Terrorism: Iranian Spokesman

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani delivered a speech at the “Patience Role Models Conference”, organized by the Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism, held in Tehran on August 21.

Here is the text of his speech, released by the Foreign Ministry’s website:

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

I am happy that on the International Day of Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, I am in the gathering of you dear and revered families of the martyrs of our country and esteemed survivors of bitter and bloody terrorist incidents. I admire your patience, steadfastness and courage and pray for the pure souls of all high-ranking martyrs and victims of terrorism and heroes of the fight against this ominous phenomenon.

The International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism’s motto this year, namely "Voices for Peace", has stressed the role of the survivors of terrorist incidents and fulfilling their duties as educators of peace.

True peace can be achieved in the shadow of justice and the implementation of justice against criminals, oppressors and offenders.

It is deeply regrettable that organized terrorism has its roots in the organized support of certain systems and regimes and fake advocates of mankind.

This year, we ushered in this day under the circumstances that the world's biggest state terrorist, the fake and infanticidal Zionist regime, is committing the most egregious crimes and heinous bloodshed in the holy land of all heavenly religions, dear Palestine, with the full and unrestricted support of some states that claim to be supporters of human rights, like the US, the UK.

Talking about "tribute to the victims of terrorism" when four Palestinian children are martyred by the merciless and terrorist army of the Israeli regime every hour, and about 40 Palestinian children lose their mothers in the terrorist attacks by the murderers every day, is nothing but a hollow slogan, especially since international institutions and Western governments have turned a blind eye to the unprecedented crimes against humanity and have refused to take even the smallest measure to put an end the 80-year-old crimes.

Some Western states, especially the US government, while claiming to fight terrorism, have created the world's most dangerous terrorist identity, the Zionist regime, and are giving it comprehensive support.

Indeed, who created Daesh and unleashed them and other dangerous terrorist groups onto nations, especially Muslim nations and states?

Who supplies the lethal weapons and prohibited bombs to the terrorist regime of Israel?

Who provides financial resources and weapons to the dangerous terrorist groups?

Who supported and now hosts and backs the detested Hypocrites (MKO), who have the blood of more than 17,000 Iranians on their filthy hands, including high-ranking officials, lawmakers, military and police forces, and especially Iranian citizens, men and women and children?

Terrorists who killed thousands of Iranian people in the 1980s in cold blood –including in a terrorist bomb blast that martyred 72 senior officials, political and scientific elites and representatives of the nation, and in another terrorist move, the president and prime minister our country – are now living under the aegis of the same governments in the US and Europe.

Furthermore, amid efforts by the Iranian nation to achieve scientific and technical nuclear capabilities in order to use it for peaceful purposes, state and organized terrorism, whose obvious symbol is the usurping Zionist regime, martyred a number of prominent nuclear scientists in our country.

The disgrace of the vicious martyrdom of the Iranian general and the hero of the fight against terrorism, in a drone attack at the Baghdad airport, while he was under diplomatic immunity and was going on a political and peaceful mission, will never be removed from the US government’s record.

Recently, the usurping Zionist regime, as a protégé and strategic ally of the US, in a behavior similar to the US government’s disgraceful act in the assassination of General Soleimani, assassinated Dr. Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement in Tehran and martyred him in a sinister and vicious move and in breach of all relevant and customary international laws and regulations, while he was a guest of the Iranian government.

Lethal raids by Americans on defenseless people in the regional countries, attacks on public gatherings and their wedding celebrations, Blackwater’s crimes in Iraq, assassination of nuclear scientists in Iran in collaboration with the Mossad, attacks on shrines and holy places in our country, shooting down an Iranian passenger plane over the Persian Gulf, are only a few examples of the long list of US offenses, which will never be removed from the memory of the Iranian people and the regional nations.

The mask was removed a long time ago from the face of the Western claimants, and on top of them the US regime, which is the biggest supporter of terrorism, especially the criminal gang living in Tel Aviv, and is also the only regime in the world that has used nuclear bombs against citizens.

Today, this bitter and unfortunate fact that the US government supports the Zionist regime’s state terrorism without any cover has been laid bare before the eyes of the entire world, from every strata and class, from the people who have suffered in West Asia and North Africa to the students in Europe and the US.

Concurrent with the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, the world community and international organizations have to take immediate and effective measures as soon as possible to stop the genocide, prosecute its commanders, perpetrators, and supporters, help the Palestinian people, and reconstruct the oppressed Gaza.

Now, the proud and cherished nation of Iran, while being one of the biggest victims of state and organized terrorism, by relying on God Almighty, has become the loudest voice promoting peace based on justice and the strongest force in the fight against terrorism. The Islamic Republic of Iran, in this honorable path of fighting terrorism, including organized and state terrorism as well as sectarian terrorism supported by the authoritarian system, views itself beside all governments and nations that have been victims of terrorism or are honestly willing to fight the ominous phenomenon.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a country that has always been the target of armed, political, and economic terrorism and has always been a harbinger of peace in the world, with a precious experience stands with all the victims of terrorism and honest and true opponents of terror.

There is no doubt that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s government and its judicial and diplomatic systems will use all political, legal and judiciary capacities at the national and international levels in the path of restoring the rights of the Iranian people, reclaiming the rights of terror victims and their dear families who are suffering, and executing justice against terrorists and their supporters.

It is very fortunate that in line with the definite policy of the system and based on the determination of the nation and the families of the victims, now the complementary and synergistic cooperation between the three branches, especially the cooperation between the judiciary and the diplomatic system, is in its best shape for the purpose of trial, issuing sentences and implementation of legal justice for criminals and terrorists and their supporters, and by God’s will, this approach will seriously continue.

In the end, once again, I would like to thank the Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism, which has been formed by the esteemed children and families of martyrs and victims of terrorism, and has a consultative position with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, for holding this meeting.

I ask you, honorable participants and all those who can, to raise your voice in support of the oppressed children and women in Gaza to the world and make the Zionist vampires and their supporters more disgraced.
