Iran Freestyle Team Comes 2nd at U-17 World Championship


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s freestyle wrestling team finished in second place at the 2024 U-17 World Championship.

Abolfazl Shamsipour (71kg) and Reza Afshar (80kg) won two gold medals, Amir Abbas Ramezani (45kg) and Amir Abbas Alizadeh (48kg) claimed two silver medals and Amir Reza Alipour (92kg) and Abolfazl Mohammadnezhad (110kg) seized two bronze medals for Iran. 

The United States won the team title with 152 points, 20 more than second-place Iran.

Kyrgyzstan finished third with 104 points, its first-ever podium finish at the U-17 World Championships.

The competition was held in Amman, Jordan.
