Iran’s Plan for Revenge on Israel, Resistance Front’s Moves Kept Apart: Top General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s highest-ranking military commander confirmed that Tehran will certainly avenge the Israeli assassination of the Hamas chief, noting that the decision about such a response will be made separately from the resistance forces’ actions against the Zionists.

In remarks on Monday, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri described the Israeli regime’s cowardly assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran as an unforgettable issue.

“A revenge for the blood of martyr Haniyeh at the hands of the resistance axis and the Islamic Republic of Iran is definite,” the top commander said.

He stated that Iran won’t fall into the enemy’s trap of media provocations and games.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran decides for itself about the revenge, while the resistance axis will act separately and independently in this regard, as we saw yesterday,” Major General Baqeri said, referring to Hezbollah’s massive strikes against the Israeli regime’s military targets.

In the early hours of Sunday, Hezbollah successfully completed a retaliatory attack on Israel in response to the killing of commander Fuad Shukr at the end of July.

The Lebanese resistance group said it fired more than 320 Katyusha rockets at 11 Israeli military bases and barracks, including an intelligence base at Glilot, near Tel Aviv, the Meron base and four sites in the occupied Golan Heights.
