Gaza Situation ‘Catastrophic’ as Over 1 Million Without Food Aid Rations: UN


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The UN said more than one million people in central and southern Gaza did not receive any food rations in August, adding that the “humanitarian situation in Gaza remains beyond catastrophic”.

More than one million Palestinians in Gaza did not receive food aid rations in August, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said, noting that the humanitarian situation in the war-torn territory is “beyond catastrophic”.

At least 21 people have been killed in the most recent Israeli attacks on Gaza, including in a deadly strike near Kamal Adwan Hospital in the north.

Hamas accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of intentionally sabotaging ceasefire talks so Israel could “prolong the aggression against our people”.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said the Israeli army is refusing to coordinate the entry of medical teams affiliated with the emergency polio vaccination campaign into some areas of southern Gaza, Al Jazeera reported.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said at least 39 people have been killed in the occupied West Bank since August 28, when Israeli forces launched a large-scale incursion into several towns and cities.

Israeli forces stormed the West Bank’s Tulkarem refugee camp again after briefly withdrawing earlier in the day. They destroyed a house in the al-Madares neighborhood of the camp.

At least 40,878 Palestinian people have been killed and 94,454 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 2023.
