Iran Advocates Balkans Stability

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araqchi expressed Tehran’s support for stability in the Balkans and reaffirmed the Iranian administration’s backing for the territorial integrity of Serbia.

In a telephone conversation on Friday, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Duric congratulated his Iranian counterpart on taking office.

He also expressed hope that the friendly relations between Serbia and Iran would expand under the new Iranian administration.

Duric further noted that Serbia is willing to boost economic cooperation with Iran and invited the Iranian economic sectors to actively participate in the 2027 Expo Belgrade.

He also thanked Iran for supporting the territorial integrity of Serbia, hailing the Iranian support as “precious” and “worthy of gratitude”, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

For his part, Araqchi said Iran seeks to maintain and strengthen friendly relations with Serbia, adding that the Iranian administration’s foreign policy entails supporting stability in the Balkans.

Araqchi then reaffirmed Iran’s support for the territorial integrity of Serbia and Tehran’s logical opposition to any border and geopolitical change in various regions.

It is necessary to use all existing mechanisms to expand bilateral ties between Tehran and Belgrade, especially in the economic and trade spheres, he added.

The two diplomats agreed that consultations between the two countries must continue at different levels.
