Iran’s President Makes State Visit to Iraq


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Iraq on Wednesday in his first official foreign trip after taking office.

The Iranian president arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday morning and was formally received by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani.

During his three-day stay in Iraq, the Iranian president is going to hold meetings with senior officials of the neighboring country and sign a series of agreements, including one on security cooperation.

Pezeshkian is also expected to visit the holy Shiite shrines in Karbala and Najaf and pay visits to Basra and Erbil as well.

The Iranian president has described cooperation for regional development as the guiding principle of his administration’s foreign policy.
