Officials Discuss Iran-Saudi Military Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior military officials from Iran and Saudi Arabia weighed plans to promote military cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Saudi Arabia’s deputy defense minister held a meeting in China before the formal beginning of the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.

The Iranian and Saudi authorities stressed the need to carry out the cooperation agreement their countries signed in China in March 2023 and called for plans to enhance military interaction between the two countries.

They also emphasized the necessity for closer cooperation and coordination between Tehran and Riyadh to promote regional security.

The Iranian general warned in the meeting that the presence of outsiders in the region will obstruct the establishment of security and upset regional stability.

The 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum is held at the Beijing International Convention Center from September 12 to 14.

The theme of this year’s forum is “Promoting Peace for a Shared Future”.

Participants in the forum will discuss the role of the Global South countries in international security, improving international security mechanisms, maintaining peace and development in the Asia-Pacific region, and achieving a balanced and orderly multipolar world.
