Iranian Border Guards Killed in Terrorist Attack near Border with Pakistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Three Iranian border guards, including an officer and two conscripts, were martyred in a terrorist attack in the city of Mirjaveh, Sistan and Balouchestan province, a local official confirmed.

Several terrorists opened fire on the border guards while they were refueling at a gas station in Mirjaveh on Thursday evening, according to Mehdi Shamsabadi, the prosecutor of Zahedan province in southeastern Iran.

"In this terrorist incident, three border guards were martyred, and one civilian present at the scene was injured," Shamsabadi stated.

He added that a judicial case has been opened in relation to the attack, and intelligence operations are underway to identify the perpetrators.

The victims have been identified as Second Lieutenant Mohammad Amin Narouei, Private Parsa Soozani, and Private Amir Ebrahimzadeh.

Later in the evening, the Jaish al-Adl (known in Iran as Jaish al-Dhulm) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Jaish al-Adl, based in Pakistan, is known for carrying out numerous attacks against Iran.

One of the group's more recent attacks occurred in April, when five police officers were killed in Sistan and Balouchestan province.

In January, Iranian forces targeted two of the group’s major strongholds in Pakistan's Balochistan province with missile strikes and combat drones.

This operation followed a December attack on the Rask County police headquarters, which resulted in the deaths of 11 police officers and injuries to at least six others.
