Persepolis Coach Garrido Satisfied with His Team against Al Ahali

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis head coach Juan Carlos Garrido is satisfied with his team’s performance against Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia in the 2024-25 AFC Champions League Elite.

The Iranian side lost to Al Ahli in its opening match but the Spaniard is satisfied with his team’s performance.

“Overall, we played a good match. We have a good team and we have great fans. Al Ahli has good players, especially Kessie, and I am happy with our control despite the opponent having several illustrious players,” said Carlos.

Also, Al Ahli coach Matthias Jaissle praised Persepolis at the end of the match.

“It was a difficult match as expected against a strong team in terms of fitness and power, and the most important thing in this tournament is to get the points at the beginning. Not everything was perfect, but the team's mentality was excellent,” said Jaissle.

“There is no easy match in this tournament. It is important to be humble. We were keen to score at the beginning of the match, and the opponents were not easy. I hope to have a team that can pressure for 90 minutes. We are playing against teams who also want to attack and score, and this is the fun part of football,” the German added.

The Iran champion will need a result when it hosts Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor FC on Matchday Two while Al Ahli will travel to play UAE’s Al Wasl Club.
