Spokesman Rebuffs Anti-Iran Statements by Westerners

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the statements that the EU foreign policy chief and the foreign ministers of the US, the UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia have made against Iran.

"It appears that the High Representative of the European Union, under the pressure of specific political lobbies and in continuation of a persistent insistence on erroneous approaches, without regard to realities, has committed yet another strategic mistake and in a biased manner, has repeated baseless allegations concerning the Islamic Republic of Iran," Nasser Kanaani said on Tuesday.

He warned against the insistence of the European Union officials and a very small number of other countries on adopting destructive positions or issuing harmful statements.

"We recommend that the European Union and this handful of deluded countries, by reflecting on the process of holding Iran’s 14th Presidential Election and gaining a realistic understanding of the facts concerning Iran, including the deep bond between the people, the government, and the Islamic Republic system, refrain from empty and futile accusations, as well as from pursuing their failed anti-Iranian policies,” the spokesman said, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Referring to the bankrupt policy of resorting to sanctions by the US, the European Union, and certain other countries against Iran, Kanaani said, "We once again remind them that insisting on misguided and counterproductive approaches not only does not resolve any issue but is itself part of the problem. Continuing such a misguided path against Iran will not serve their interests either."

Underscoring the special and exalted status of human rights in Iran, he added, "We recommend that the European Union and some other self-proclaimed countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, instead of interfering in Iran's internal affairs, focus on their own dismal human rights record. This record includes support for the criminal Israeli regime and the violent suppression of protests opposing the ongoing genocide in Gaza, which is merely one small part of it."
