IRGC Ready to Revive Coal Mine after Tragedy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps expressed readiness to assist with the revival of a coal mine in Iran’s eastern city of Tabas where the explosion of methane gas claimed the lives of dozens of workers on Saturday night.

In a message on Monday, IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami offered his condolences on the loss of workers in the tragic mine blast.

The general also expressed sympathy with the families of the victims of the incident.

He further voiced the IRGC’s readiness to provide whatever assistance necessary in the revival of the mine, which has been out of service following the blast.

At least 35 miners have died and several others have been injured in the explosion at the “Ma’danjou” coal mine in Tabas.

Fourteen other miners, still trapped inside, are feared dead.
