Region on Brink of War, Iranian FM Warns
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Warning against the outbreak of a massive war across the region following the Zionist regime’s strikes on Lebanon, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held the US and the allies of Israel accountable for the consequences of crisis.
In a meeting with his Italian counterpart on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, Araqchi condemned the Israeli regime’s fatal attacks on Lebanon.
The Iranian foreign minister warned that the region is on the brink of a massive war, stating that if the US and the other friends of the Zionist regime do not stop the Israeli attacks, they will have to take responsibility for the consequences.
Pointing to the calls from Italy and other countries for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Araqchi said the onus in on the sponsors of the Zionist regime to force it to stop the brutal strikes that have killed hundreds of people, including tens of children.
He also highlighted the Israeli regime’s frustration and failure to achieve any of its objectives in Gaza after nearly a year of onslaught on the besieged enclave, stressing that the Zionist regime should not be allowed to spread the war to the whole region.
For his part, Antonio Tajani voiced concern about the dire situation in southern Lebanon, calling for diplomatic efforts to prevent a war and establish ceasefire.
