Persepolis, Pakhtakor Looking for First Win in AFC Champions League Elite

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis and Pakhtakor football teams will both be on a mission to kickstart their respective AFC Champions League Elite 2024-25 when they square off on Monday.

The match will be held in Tehran’s Shahr-e Qods.

Two-time AFC Champions League runner-up Persepolis was defeated 1-0 by Al Ahli Saudi FC on Matchday One while Pakhtakor suffered the same fate against UAE's Al Wasl Club.

Iran champion Persepolis will welcome Pakhtakor confident that it can see off the challenge of its opponent from Uzbekistan.

The Iranian champion is slowly but surely getting into its groove and will head into the tie having beaten Esteghlal FC 1-0 in the Iran Pro League clash on Wednesday.

They will, however, be mindful of the fact that two of their previous four meetings with Pakhtakor ended in wins for the Uzbekistan champion.

Pakhtakor will be desperate to avoid last season's fate, where defeats in its opening two matches ultimately saw the team making a group stage exit.
