Iran Urges UNSC’s Action against Israeli Bullying

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei branded the Zionist regime as a self-centered bully, calling for the UN Security Council’s action to control the Israeli wickedness.

In a post on his X account on Thursday night, the Iranian spokesman lashed out at the Israeli foreign minister for declaring UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “persona non grata” and barring him from entering the occupied territories.

“The Zionist regime's ambassador shred UN Charter in all rudeness. Now Israel's MFA declares UNSG Antonio Guterres persona non grata to bully him further into silence, following Netanyahu's last week abuse of UNGA podium to silence the whole world by threatening to cause more death and destruction,” Baqaei said.

“Aren't they all alarming enough to get together and rein in this evil?” he asked.

“Bullies are self-centered and know no bound in their wickedness. Appeasing a bully only leads to more bullying. UNSC must be allowed to act before it's absolutely late,” the Iranian spokesman added.

His comments came after Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz on Wednesday accused Guterres of failing to “unequivocally” condemn Iran’s missile attack on Israel. Israel has persistently complained over the UN’s approach throughout its yearlong war on Gaza.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric has described the Israeli announcement as political and “just one more attack, so to speak, on UN staff that we’ve seen from” Israel. He said the UN traditionally does not recognize the concept of persona non grata as applying to UN staff.
