Israel Continues Airstrikes on Beirut As Hezbollah Responds with Retaliatory Attacks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israel launched new airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, targeting civilian buildings, as the conflict with Lebanon escalates.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported over 2,000 deaths since the start of the attacks, while Hezbollah continues its retaliatory operations.
On Friday night, Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Dahiyeh, a southern neighborhood of Beirut, targeting civilian buildings. These strikes followed Israel's earlier evacuation orders for residents of the area.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that the ongoing Israeli assaults on southern towns have led to the deaths of more civilians. As of Friday, more than 2,000 people, including 127 children and 261 women, have been killed since last October. The ministry added that 37 people were killed, and over 150 injured in airstrikes on Thursday.
Israeli forces used powerful bunker-buster bombs in their latest attack, with reports suggesting more bombs were used compared to previous strikes. Hezbollah, Lebanon’s resistance movement, responded by engaging Israeli forces attempting to infiltrate southern Lebanon.
In a statement, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a “huge explosion” that forced Israeli troops to retreat, inflicting casualties. Hezbollah has vowed to continue its operations against Israel until the genocidal war in Gaza ends, with at least 17 Israeli troops reportedly killed since the incursion into southern Lebanon began.
The conflict remains intense, with Hezbollah carrying out retaliatory strikes using rocket barrages and hypersonic ballistic missiles, targeting Israeli positions. The Lebanese resistance movement has successfully repelled Israeli advances, inflicting significant losses on Israeli forces attempting to enter southern Lebanon.
