Giorgi Gvelesiani Reaches Milestone in Persepolis
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Georgian international defender Giorgi Gvelesiani became the best foreign goalscorer in the history of the Persepolis football club.
He scored a winner against Chadormalu in the added time and registered his 17th goal for the club.
Gvelesiani surpassed English forward Alan Whittle, who was a member of Persepolis in the 70’s, after taking his tally to 17.
Gvelesiani, 33, joined Persepolis from Sepahan in 2022 and helped the Reds win the Iran league twice in the last two seasons, one Hazfi Cup and one Super Cup.
