Pro-Israeli Hacker Group Targets Al-Mayadeen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A pro-Israeli hacker group has reportedly breached the social media pages of the Al-Mayadeen News Network, posting a provocative cartoon.

The incident, which occurred on both X (formerly Twitter) and Telegram, appears to be part of an ongoing digital campaign targeting pro-resistance media outlets.

On October 7, 2024, a political cartoon mocking Hezbollah and Iran was uploaded by an unidentified hacker group to the official social media pages of Al-Mayadeen.

The pro-Israeli cartoon was uploaded on X and Telegram accounts of the website.

Al-Mayadeen Media Network, known for its pro-resistance stance, has confirmed the cyberattack, releasing a statement shortly after the incident.

"Our website and social media platforms have been subjected to a cyber-attack, and our technical team is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible," the network stated.

The group responsible for the hack is believed to be aligned with pro-Israeli factions, based on the content of the post, which praises the Israeli army's resurgence and calls for the destruction of Hezbollah.

This attack on Al-Mayadeen comes as tensions in the Middle East rise, with at least 41,870 people killed and 97,166 wounded in Israel's genocidal war on Gaza since October 2023.

Online platforms are frequently used as battlegrounds for pro-Israeli psychological and information warfare.

Al-Mayadeen’s followers on both platforms expressed outrage over the hack, with many calling for stronger cybersecurity measures to prevent future breaches.

There has been no confirmation of any group officially claiming responsibility for the incident.
