Iran Strongly Condemns Israeli Strike on Medical Facility on Syrian-Lebanese Border

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran condemned Israel’s attack on a medical facility near the Syria-Lebanon border, labeling it a "clear example of war crimes" and calling for international condemnation.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned an Israeli strike on a medical facility along the Syria-Lebanon border, describing it as a blatant violation of international law.

Speaking on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei censured Israel’s repeated attacks on hospitals and other medical facilities in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, saying they reflect the regime’s complete disregard for international regulations.

“These frequent attacks on medical infrastructure are a clear example of war crimes,” Baqaei said.

He urged international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), to unequivocally condemn Israeli crimes.

Baqaei also called for urgent global action to support the thousands of Lebanese displaced in the wake of Israel’s military offensive in Lebanon over the past two weeks.

The Israeli strike, which occurred on Wednesday, targeted Iran’s 56-bed field hospital located on the Syrian-Lebanese border.

The attack destroyed ambulances, medical equipment, and food supplies housed in the facility.

The hospital, set up to assist displaced Lebanese, was clearly marked with the Red Crescent flag and symbols, according to Baqaei.

“All ambulances, the field hospital, and its supplies were completely destroyed by Israel,” he added.

Since Israel’s offensive began on October 7 last year, the Israeli military has frequently targeted Gaza’s healthcare and education sectors.

Several hospitals, schools, colleges, and universities have been bombed, with hundreds of educational institutions, including 65 run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), either destroyed or damaged.

Despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, Israel's military campaign continues, with Israel pursuing a "genocidal war" aimed at eradicating the Palestinian people trapped in the besieged Gaza Strip.
